Woman found not guilty of carrying meth across Bridge 2

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A not-guilty verdict has been reached for a woman accused of carrying methamphetamines across the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge in December 2022.

In the 49th District Court, Alondra Virdiann Reynosa’s attorney explained that Reynosa moved goods between Mexico and the United States. When arrested, she was carrying frozen meat, and hidden among the meat were four kilograms of meth.

During the trial, Reynosa consistently denied any knowledge of having drugs in her possession. After several days of testimony, the jury found Reynosa innocent.

“She was extremely happy. She broke down. She hadn’t broken down throughout the case. She broke down when she heard the ‘not guilty.’ I was very happy for her. She was very happy that the justice system had worked for her because it was a difficult sell. A lot of times juries don’t take the trouble to really, really sift through the evidence,” said Silverio Martinez, Reynosa’s defense attorney.

Martinez noted that drug traffickers often use unsuspecting individuals to carry drugs.
